Non-surgical spinal decompression
has become a common therapy for the treatment of acute and chronic low
back and neck pain due to herniated discs, degenerative disc disease,
posterior facet syndrome, sciatica and protruding discs. It is a non-invasive,
drug-free, and safe procedure that has been cleared by the FDA. Many patients
have been able to avoid surgery with spinal decompression therapy.
How does spinal decompression help? Spinal decompression therapy is designed to apply controlled forces into the spine at specific angles to relieve pressure on the anatomical structures that are causing your pain. As the vertebrae are separated, the pressure within the disc is reduced, creating a vacuum effect. This allows the herniated disc material (nucleus pulposus) to withdraw…reducing the size of the disc herniation. Decompression will also strengthen the ligaments that hold the disc in place, decreasing the chance of future recurrence. These ligaments have often been stretched and/or torn and weakened as a result of the bulging or herniation. Spinal decompression (and pretreatment with infrared light therapy) produces an increase in circulation that helps pull nutrients into the disc that are necessary for the healing of the outer portion of the disc (annulus fibrosis). Statistically, 70% of all back surgeries end in failure…and according to the New England Journal of Medicine, 51% of all back surgery is unnecessary. It is estimated that more than 80% of the population will have back or neck pain at some point in their life. This makes back and neck pain two of the most common ailments in healthcare today. With the low success rate of surgery, it is easy to understand why 58% of the population state that they turn to conservative, non-surgical treatment rather than surgery (according to a North American Spine Society poll). These statistics led to the coming together of scientists, doctors and engineers and the development of a non-surgical alternative in the treatment of back and neck pain…spinal decompression. With a success rate of over 70%, undergoing a conservative procedure would seem the logical choice prior to considering a surgical approach. If you or someone you know:

Spinal Decompression Treatments If it is determined that you are a good candidate for spinal decompression, and you decide to undergo treatment, you can usually begin the same day. Treatments are scheduled in one hour blocks and are relaxing and pain free. Most patients watch a movie, read or just fall asleep during their session. Based upon current research and clinical experience, the best results have been achieved with 20 therapy sessions over a 6 to 8 week period. Call today to schedule a free consultation to determine whether or not non-surgical spinal decompression is the right course of treatment for your condition. Because we do not spend money on outside marketing for our decompression services, the cost to you is often half of what other offices in the area are charging. We also offer CareCredit if you need financing.
